Every year, the well-known photo brand Hasselblad organizes an original photo competition in which
artists from all over the world compete.
This year's winner in the portrait category was the artist Marek Würfl living in Bratislava, Slovakia.
His series of portraits, entitled Boyhood, is a retrospective study exploring the fragile period of human life.
“It is a time of experiences that will shape his entire personality and character in later life.
“To emphasize the importance and fragility of this moment, I chose to capture my subjects the same way
I would take a portrait of an adult.
They are calm, thoughtful, but strong and self-confident at the same time.
"By deliberately using soft light and bright colors,
I try to confuse the viewer's emotions and maybe even make them question their own perceptions."- Marek Würfl
